Whether it’s in the fall or the spring, there always are a some days where Southern California hunters will hunt in the rain.

When I saw the Sport-Brella for the first time, I thought of one of those days in particular, a cold, rainy spring day of turkey hunting this year, when a Sport-Brella would have helped keep me dry and hunting longer into the day.

Easily set up in a few seconds due to its umbrella action mechanism, the camouflaged Sport-Brella is not light enough to pack. But it could be used in a setting where you can drive to and unload it and then hike or pack in later after moving the vehicle from the hunting area.

At 9 feet wide, it gives plenty of cover to one or two hunters. I hunt turkeys from a Gobbler Lounger, a camouflaged, low-back beach chair. One or two chairs will perfectly under the Sport-Brella to shield one or two hunters from the rain. It also has ground stakes for more stability on windy days.

What I like about the Sport-Brella is that it’s a blind without total enclosure. The range of view in front is unobstructed, perfect for hunting. It’s domed shape with flaps and has zippered windows on both sides and internal pockets for gear and valuables dry storage. Fishermen could use it on shore, too, to get out of a driving rain, but keep fishing.

The Sport-Brella retails for $69.99 and can be purchased online at sklz.com or call (877) 225-7275.
